Description :
BYOB Thesis Simple Header Widgets plugin allows you to combine widgets, navigation, the search form and default Thesis header functions together within the Thesis header, without writing custom code. You can use it to add images, sliders custom menus, sign up forms, calls to action, login forms and virtually anything else that can be added using a widget.
It also includes styling options that allow you to define background colors, background images, padding and margins for the various elements you insert into the header.
Please note that this plugin only works with the the Thesis theme 1.8 and above

This plugin allows you to add widgets to the Thesis Header without creating custom code. With it you can do any of the following:
- Divide the header into two areas either horizontally or vertically (left and right sides or top or bottom)
- Add widgets to either or both of the areas
- Define the height, width, background color and background image of the header area
- Define the height, width, background color and background image of either header area
- Define the padding and margins for either header area and for the entire header area
- Retain the default Thesis header functions for one of the header areas
- Add the Thesis Nav Menu to one of the header areas
- Add the search form to one of the header areas
Installation :
Via WordPress Dashboard
- On the left hand panel of your WordPress Dashboard, click on Plugins.
- At the top of the Plugins page, click on Add New.
- Inside the search box, type in ?BYOB Thesis Simple Header Widgets?
- Under the Plugin name, click on Install Now.
- If this is the first time you’ve installed a WordPress Plugin, WordPress may ask you to enter your FTP login details. If you’ve installed a plug in before, it will still have your login details. TIP: You can find your FTP login details in the account details or account information email your web host sent you immediately after you purchased your hosting package.
- After installation, you’ll automatically be taken to a page that tells you the plugin has been successfully installed. There will be two links: Activate Now and Return to Plugin Installer. Click Activate Now.
- You’ll then be taken back to the main Plugins page. On the left hand menu of your WordPress Dashboard page, navigate to the BYOB Thesis Plugins menu. Click on the menu to expand it. Select Simple Header Widgets. You’re now ready to customize your headers with widgets. NOTE: As soon as you activate the plugin, it’ll replace the default Thesis Theme header with one default blue widget area. Inside the widget area, you’ll see the following text: Left Area Header Widgets. Add widgets here from your WP Dashboard just like normal. The activated plugin will also automatically create an additional side bar called Left Header Area Widgets. You can see this on the Widgets page, accessible under the Appearance Menu of your WordPress Dashboard. If you’re not ready to customize your headers, go back to the Plugins page, navigate to the plugin, and click Deactivate.

Via FTP
- Download the BYOB Thesis Simple Headers plugin page in the WordPress Repository here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/byob-thesis-simple-header-widgets/. Unzip the file.
- You’ll need an FTP client and your FTP login details. Using the FTP client, upload the downloaded, unzipped plugin folder byob-thesis-simple-header-widgets to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. TIP: One free FTP client that works with both Windows and OS X is Filezilla, which may be downloaded here: http://filezilla-project.org/.
- Click on the Plugins menu on the left hand panel of your WordPress Dashboard.
- Find the BYOB Thesis Simple Header Widgets plugin and under it, click Activate. NOTE: As soon as you activate the plugin, it’ll replace the default Thesis Theme header with one default blue widget area. You’ll see this on the Home Page of your website. Inside the widget area, you’ll see the following text: Left Area Header Widgets. Add widgets here from your WP Dashboard just like normal. The activated plugin will also automatically create an additional side bar called Left Header Area Widgets. You can see this on the Widgets page, accessible under the Appearance Menu of your WordPress Dashboard.
